A faecal test for detecting Salmonella bacteria in birds and livestock, with optional serotyping for positive samples.
The Salmonella Test is a focused laboratory analysis that detects the presence of Salmonella bacteria in faecal samples from birds or grazing animals. Salmonella is a significant zoonotic pathogen that can cause intestinal illness and spread between animals and humans, making accurate detection essential for maintaining flock and farm biosecurity.
If the result is positive, a serotype identification will be carried out to determine the specific strain of Salmonella. This process takes approximately 8 weeks to complete.
