A PCR test for the detection of Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD) virus in birds, requiring feather samples containing pulp for accurate results.
The PBFD PCR Test is a precise molecular diagnostic test used to detect the presence of the Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD) virus, a highly contagious and often fatal condition affecting parrots and related species. Early detection is crucial for preventing the spread of this viral disease within aviaries and breeding environments.
This test uses Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology to identify viral DNA with high accuracy, even in the early stages of infection or in birds showing minimal symptoms.
Sample Requirements:
A feather pluck from the chest area containing visible pulp (at least 4 feathers with pulp are required).
If you’re unsure about the collection process, this should be performed by a qualified veterinarian.
In cases where pulp is insufficient, additional feathers may be requested.
Turnaround Time: Results are typically available within 7 working days.
An essential diagnostic test for avian health monitoring, breeding management, and disease control, offering reliable and timely detection of PBFD virus.
